Who Plays Doofy Scary Movie?

If you’re a fan of the Scary Movie franchise, then you’re likely familiar with the character of Doofy. Doofy is a bumbling, oddball character that provides comedic relief to the otherwise scary plot.

But who plays Doofy in Scary Movie? Let’s find out.

The Actor Behind Doofy: Dave Sheridan

The man behind the iconic character of Doofy is actor and comedian Dave Sheridan. Born on March 10, 1969, in Newark, Delaware, Dave got his start in the entertainment industry in the mid-1990s.

Early Career

Dave’s first acting gig was on MTV’s sketch comedy show “Buzzkill” in 1996. From there, he went on to appear in various TV shows and movies, including “Arliss,” “Dharma & Greg,” and “Ghost World.”

Scary Movie

Dave’s big break came when he was cast as Officer Doofy in the hit comedy-horror film Scary Movie. Released in 2000, Scary Movie was a parody of popular horror films like Scream and I Know What You Did Last Summer.

In Scary Movie, Dave played two roles – Deputy Sheriff Doofy Gilmore and Ghostface. In an interview with The AV Club, Dave explained that he came up with the idea for Deputy Sheriff Doofy Gilmore’s character while on set:

“I was sitting around during one of our down times on set thinking about how I could make my part more interesting,” he said. “I had just seen The Usual Suspects a few days prior to that and thought it would be funny if my character had a limp like Kevin Spacey’s Verbal Kint.”

Other Roles

After Scary Movie, Dave went on to appear in several other films, including Corky Romano, Ghost World, and The Devil’s Rejects. He also provided the voice for two characters in the animated series “Freak Show.”

Personal Life

Dave has been married to his wife Tracy since 2004, and they have two children together. In addition to acting, Dave is also a writer and director. He wrote and directed the independent film “The Walking Diet” in 2018.

So there you have it – the man behind the iconic character of Doofy is Dave Sheridan! With his wit and comedic timing, Dave brought Doofy to life in a way that only he could. Even though it’s been over 20 years since Scary Movie was released, Doofy continues to be a fan-favorite character that people love to quote and imitate.
