If you’re a fan of horror-comedies, then you’ve probably seen the movie Scary Movie. Among the many characters in the film, one that stands out is Doofy Gilmore, the bumbling and seemingly dimwitted deputy played by Dave Sheridan.
However, as it turns out, Doofy isn’t quite as innocent as he seems. In fact, he has a pretty sinister motive for his actions throughout the movie.
Firstly, it’s important to note that Scary Movie is a parody of various horror movies. As such, many of its characters are exaggerated versions of typical horror movie archetypes. Doofy fits into this category as well – he’s essentially a spoof of the “dumb cop” trope that’s often seen in horror movies.
However, as the movie progresses, we start to see that there might be more to Doofy than meets the eye. For example, there’s a scene where he’s alone in his room and starts talking to his vacuum cleaner – this seems like a harmless bit of comedy at first glance, but later on we learn that Doofy has been using the vacuum cleaner to spy on people.
So what is Doofy’s motive for all this strange behavior? It all comes down to his alter ego: Ghostface.
Yes, that’s right – Doofy is actually Ghostface, the masked killer who’s been terrorizing the other characters throughout the movie. It turns out that Doofy has been pretending to be mentally handicapped in order to throw people off his trail and make them underestimate him.
Throughout the movie, we see glimpses of this darker side of Doofy/Ghostface – for example, there’s a scene where he sneaks up on one of the other characters and whispers “I see you” in their ear. This moment is played for laughs (it’s accompanied by a fart noise, for goodness’ sake), but it’s also pretty creepy when you think about it.
So why is Doofy/Ghostface doing all of this? Well, it’s revealed towards the end of the movie that he has a personal vendetta against one of the other characters – specifically, Cindy Campbell (played by Anna Faris). We learn that Cindy accidentally killed Doofy’s mother in a car accident years ago, and he’s been seeking revenge ever since.
Of course, this motive is pretty ridiculous when you think about it – why would someone go to such extreme lengths just because someone else accidentally killed their mother? But then again, Scary Movie isn’t exactly known for its logical plotlines.
In conclusion, Doofy’s motive in Scary Movie is ultimately driven by his desire for revenge against Cindy. However, the twist that he’s actually Ghostface all along adds an extra layer of complexity to his character. Despite being played for laughs throughout most of the movie, Doofy/Ghostface is actually a pretty creepy and disturbing character when you think about it.
