If you’re a Star Wars fan, then you’re probably wondering what the future holds for the franchise. One of the biggest questions on everyone’s mind is: “Is there going to be another Star Wars movie with Rey in it?” Well, the answer is both yes and no.
Let’s start with the “no” part of the answer. As of right now, there are no plans for a direct sequel to The Rise of Skywalker, which was released in 2019 and served as the conclusion to the Skywalker Saga. That means we won’t be seeing Daisy Ridley reprise her role as Rey anytime soon.
However, that doesn’t mean we’ve seen the last of Rey or her story. Lucasfilm (the production company behind Star Wars) has announced that they are developing new projects set in the Star Wars universe, and some of these projects may feature Rey or other characters from the sequel trilogy.
One of these projects is a new trilogy of movies being developed by Rian Johnson, who wrote and directed The Last Jedi (the second film in the sequel trilogy). It’s unclear at this point whether these movies will feature Rey or any other characters from the sequel trilogy, but it’s certainly a possibility.
Another project in development is a live-action TV series called The Acolyte. This series is set during the final days of the High Republic era (which takes place about 200 years before the events of The Phantom Menace), so it’s unlikely that we’ll see any characters from the sequel trilogy. However, it’s worth noting that The Acolyte is being produced by Leslye Headland, who has expressed interest in exploring female characters in Star Wars (like Rey).
In addition to these projects, there are also several animated series in development that could potentially feature Rey or other sequel trilogy characters. For example, Star Wars: The Bad Batch (which premiered on Disney+ in May 2021) takes place after the events of The Clone Wars and before the events of Rebels, so it’s possible that we could see characters from the sequel trilogy in future seasons.
So while there are no direct sequels planned for Rey’s story, there are still plenty of opportunities for her (and other sequel trilogy characters) to appear in future Star Wars projects. Whether it’s through movies, TV shows, or animated series, fans can look forward to seeing more of the galaxy far, far away in the years to come.
