If you’re working on a video project, you might need to change the quality of your video at some point. DaVinci Resolve is a powerful video editing software that allows you to do just that. In this tutorial, we’ll show you how to change video quality in DaVinci Resolve.

Step 1: Import Your Video

The first step is to import your video into DaVinci Resolve. To do that, go to the File menu and select Import Media. Then navigate to the location of your video file and select it.

Step 2: Add Your Video to the Timeline

Next, add your video to the timeline by dragging it from the media pool onto the timeline. You can also right-click on your video clip and select Add to Timeline.

Step 3: Change Video Quality

To change the quality of your video, go to the Edit menu and select “Change Clip Speed”. This will open up a window where you can adjust various settings for your clip, including its speed, resolution, and frame rate.

Adjusting Resolution

To adjust the resolution of your clip, click on the “Scaling” tab in the Change Clip Speed window. Here, you can choose from a number of preset resolutions or enter a custom resolution for your clip.

Note: Changing the resolution of your clip may result in some loss of image quality if you’re increasing its size or stretching it beyond its original aspect ratio.

  • To increase resolution:
    • Select a higher preset resolution from the list.
    • Enter a custom resolution by typing in values for Width and Height.
  • To decrease resolution:
    • Select a lower preset resolution from the list.

Adjusting Frame Rate

To adjust the frame rate of your clip, click on the “Frame Rate” tab in the Change Clip Speed window. Here, you can choose from a number of preset frame rates or enter a custom frame rate for your clip.

Note: Changing the frame rate of your clip may result in some loss of smoothness if you’re decreasing its value.

  • To increase frame rate:
    • Select a higher preset frame rate from the list.
    • Enter a custom frame rate by typing in values for Frames Per Second (FPS).
  • To decrease frame rate:
    • Select a lower preset frame rate from the list.

Step 4: Preview Your Changes

Once you’ve made your changes, preview your video to see how it looks. You can do that by clicking on the “Play” button in the preview window.

Step 5: Export Your Video

Finally, export your video by going to the File menu and selecting “Export”. Choose your desired file format and quality settings, then click on “Export”. Your video will be saved to the location you specified.
